These women shown in this picture best represent the role Sororities has played in the lives of African American Women. Sororities have become an ouflet for women to build a sisterhood of support that promotes an outlet for personal and professional growth. Sororities has been one of many building blocks to the development of the African American community by creating an atmosphere that builds character, courage, strength and hope in African American women that spreads into the work of meeting the needs of the community for both men and women. Each sorority has their own-targeted mission that meets a particular issue vital to the survival and maintenance of the African American community.
